~The Unheard Story

"Be the girl who turned her cant's into cans and her dreams into plans". This entire post is dedicated to Girls. We are living in the society which has a different perspective towards Girl, we think girls must be domestic, traditional and docile and to be anything else is immoral and not acceptable in the society.

Despite such deep-rooted stereotype against Girls. They always stand and proved themselves again and again. This story is also about the girl who proved or demonstrate her talent and today we feel proud of her. Introducing to you Kavitha Thakur, her story is not less than any Bollywood film story.

Kavitha a girl from Jagatshukh village 6 km away from Manali, Himachal Pradesh. Born in an extremely poor family, who can't afford proper clothes during a Freezing cold. Her father and mother sell snacks and run Dhaba. Her elder sister also helps their parents in their work. Kavitha life also started the same way the condition of the family was soo bad, that at the age when children use to play and study, She used to work in Dhaba and clean utensils and sweeps floor In Dhaba. During the extreme cold, their Dhaba had no customer so sometimes they sleep empty stomach. In general, the kids or children of this kind of family usually give up their dreams and spent their entire life in managing for food and shelter.

But, Kavitha is not among them she dreamt to become a sportsperson in her class Eight. She chooses kabaddi because it is the most inexpensive game in our country. She started playing the game from 2007. She was so good in kabaddi that with the help of local people and her school she got the opportunity to play at the National level. She consistently performed well at the National level that makes her play for Sports Authority Of India, Dharamshala in the year 2009. After that she never stopped in her life, soon she becomes the part of Indian Women kabaddi team at International level.

The Year 2011, was a very difficult year for Kavitha when she got ill, she had digestive system ailment and according to the doctor, She had to take 6 months of bed rest. At that time Kavitha got completely broken and she thought she hardly comeback in Kabaddi again. But, she is a fighter she gets recovered soon and did a comeback with a bang and help India win Gold in 2012 in Asian Kabaddi championship.

Kavitha life changes completely in the year 2014, when India got the gold medal in Kabaddi in Asiad. Kavitha is a part of that team, she came into limelight due to this and able to draw the attention of state government and after that many government officials came forward and provided financial support to her. She now able to get rented accommodation for her and her family in Manali. Her mother gets emotional and in her interview with a local tv channel she said: " I never thought that we ever able to live in the room with a cemented roof". Her sister was also a good kabaddi player but she left her dream and started to work with her family.

Once again, this year Kavitha in her nine-member women's kabaddi team going to play in Asian Game in Indonesia, Jakarta for India. This year Kavitha is playing as a full-time defender, previously she was an all-rounder. We as an Indian have so much hope and believe that they will bring Gold for us once again and make us pride.

A great salute to this Brave Girl she is not just a world-class Kabaddi player but she is a source of inspiration for millions of girls like her. And all the best wishes to her for the upcoming games, we hope her performance will remain like this and will bring much more laurel for us.

"Go down deep enough and you will find Mathematics".This is my first post and believe me or not There is no any better topic than this to write. Being an Engineer I am in deep love with mathematics I heard many stories of mathematician Like that
of  Pythagoras, Ramanujan, Euclid and many more. But I don't know whether you heard about Vashishtha Narayan Singh or not. If not, then believe me and read the entire post by putting a cold glass of water beside you I guarantee you never had heard a life story of this kind before.

Lal bahadur singh, a constable in Bihar Police, become father on 2nd April 1942, the child was his first son. The child was born in a poor family so it was obvious that he had to do more struggle for everything from food to education. But, Somehow Bahadur singh manages to send child in the primary school of his village Basantpur( In Bhojpur district, Bihar). The child had his primary education in the village school till class V.

We all have heard a quote saying "Morning shows the day". Same is applicable with this child now he is a grown up teenager, slowly becoming famous among local children for his calculation ability, he was so good in study that his father decided to send him in one of the prestigious school named Netarhat Vidyalaya, Jharkhand. Here the child Vashishtha Narayan Singh, started his further education. Finally in year 1962, He passed the Matriculation Examination, topping entire state of Bihar, thereafter people start not to see  Vashishtha as any ordinary child, they slowly understand that he is a natural talent.

After Netarhat, Vashishtha got admission in Patna Science college which was known as oxford of Bihar at that time. And this is the place which changed Vashishtha life completely. During that time Dr. P. Nagendra, a great Mathematician, was the principle of science college. He realized the extraordinary talent of Vashishtha. Coincidentally at the same time, The great American scholar John L. Kelly was visiting patna to participate in World Mathematics Conference. With the help of Dr. P. Nagendra Prof. John L. Kelly came to know about Vashishta and his extraordinary talent. Prof. John L. kelly took test of Vashishtha where Vashishtha not only solved question, instead he solved it in many different possible ways. Prof. John L. Kelly get impressed and offer Vashishtha to come Barkley and do further study. Professor Kelly arranged all document, visa, Flight ticket and got him UCB(University of California-Barkley) , and finally in the year 1963 Vashishtha went to California,USA, as a Research Scholar.

Vashishtha Narayan singh didn't let down the Prof. Kelly or the HOD of mathematics, and completed his PhD with Research on Reproducing Kernels And Operators With a Cyclic Vector from university of california in year 1969. After PhD he worked in NASA as a Associate Scientist on space theory.
He returned India in 1973, and worked as Lecturer in Indian institute Of Technology,Kanpur. Then he teach in ISI(Indian Statistical Institute) Kolkata and Tata Institute Of Fundamental Research Mumbai.

During this time when Vashishtha talent seemed unstoppable, things seemingly began to go wrong. He got married in 1972 as per the wish of family. But, his behaviour on workplace began to change suddenly he start throwing tantrum on others with little or without any reason. He had outburst without any logical thoughts. He was finally referred to Doctor where he was diagnosed with  Schizophrenia(a rare mental disease which is incurable where the patient loses touch of reality with incoherent thought).

During this difficult phase of his life, his wife not able to cope up with circumstances and left him in lifelong ailment and moved to her father's house. And finally took divorce, this completely shooked Dr. Vashishtha he stopped eating, and drawn himself back from the social environment even his disease began getting worse he slowly become violent, and finally he was sent to the Kanke mental Asylum,Ranchi. In 1985 he was discharged from the Institution and taken home. The sick and broken Vashishtha later run away from home after 2 years due to improper care.

He was found four year later loitering near a Garbage dump in his ex wife's  village. Unfortunately, He has not been given respect, recognition and love that he deserves. He is living his live in disguise and dismay, which we as a Indian feel ashamed, because the person who has so remarkable life and had given the society or world so much must need a life to live with dignity. He was also know for challenging the Newton's Theory of Relativity.

The troubled life of one of the greatest Mathematician of our time need to be appreciated by the people.
Finally, After reunion most publication carried story of him and then many government official decided to help. And in year 2013 a university in Madhepura appointed him as a guest Faculty.
I pray this Legendary Mathematician to live long. His research paper is used as a one of the  Referred work in the field all across the World.
